    Do I need to configure my computer from windows when I plug in the dongle?

    what i did is plug in the dongle and let the wizard walk thro the process

    I failed to get a signal and I want to know if there could have been lapses on my part

    Hi

    Can you see your device detected by software ? If device is detected but no signal then may be there is no signal in your area. You can try 2G mode and see if there is any signal.

    There is an Icon on the desktop

    The device manager says the device is working properly

    Procedure I followed
    Plugged in the dongle and follwed the Wizard

    Doubts No antenna appears showing a tower with signal strength

    How could I have configured from the network and sharing centre if at all?

    how do I change from 3g to 2 g mode?

    the device displays
    Control panel> devices and printers> hspa data card
    So the device is captured on the system

    Can you show me screenshot of it when your dongle is connected because it has nothing to do with device manage.

    I am sorry but i do not know how to take a "screenshot".

    My dongle is 3.5 and the latest one is 3.6.
    There is no 3g service in our area but 2 g is available.
    BSNL has kindly agreed to send a man to my house

    Taking screenshot is very easy, if you are running windows 7 then it comes with "Snipping Tools" , just start it, select area you want to show us and then save it as image file and attach here. For example, I have attached screenshot of your post below :
