    Indian Railways/ Indian Railways gets contactless smart cards

    Indian Railways get smarter. Indian Railways Welcomes Phillips NXP Semiconductor's chip technology for its contact less smart cards for the automation and Fare Collection system which going to start in New Delhi, Secunderabad, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Pune.

    The Passenger at all these stations can book unreserved tickets through ATVM by smart cards. These Smart Cards are part of UTS Only.

    Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) across the country and the project will begin by next month.NXP is planning to provide MIFARE DESFire-based ICs for approximately 6.5 lakh contactless cards over a period of one year.

    NXP is planning to provide MIFARE DESFire-based ICs and Siepmann's Card Systems will provide the card.

    CRIS developed the Smart cards based contactless solutions using NXP's MIFARE 1KB Classic chip inn Year 2007 in Mumbai and Chennai And till 5 lakh cards already distributed to the passenger of these Stations.
