Patriotic duty means serving one's country through military service. For others, it's volunteering in one's community. Patriotic duty can manifest in a variety of ways. However, the foundation of each is that the individual believes that he/she is acting in the best interest of the country. The main point is that the citizen does not act in a way that harms said country. Support, love, and devotion for what one's country stands for are in the end, what drives an individual to do what they do. In India Independence day is celebrated in a very grand manner mostly the politician or senior members do hoist the flag and people sing national anthem while hoisting the flag. The schools, collages as well as offices do remain closed on this day so that people can celebrate the nation's independence.

National anthems are a mark of country's identity and rich cultural heritage. These anthems keep alive the age old tradition and beliefs in the westernized world. Like every country India also has its own set of national symbols that narrate the rich heritage and cultural beliefs of the country. Indians of all caste, creed, and religion look at these with honor as these instill a sense of pride, belongingness, and nationalism in every Indian heart. Jana-gana-mana' as we all know is the National Anthem of the country. The anthem was beautifully composed by Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali. Later, it was accepted as the National Anthem in its Hindi version. The song in its beautiful composition is sung on many religious, political, and other special events.
