hi i am 25 yrs old n i am in love with a guy who is off different religion, i am muslim n guy is christian, my family members are against our love becoz of different religion. how can i convince my parents without hurting them. please suggest me some ideas

Frankly speaking, this is going to be tough. We do see people facing difficulties in inter-caste marriages, and yours is a inter-religion one. Its good somewhere that the guy's family is ready to accept you as their bride to be. If your family is very conservative about the idea of inter-religion marriage, then you will have to try harder and harder to convince them.

For the initial start, search someone who can listen and understand your problem atleast and not react weirdly on listen to this. Try to gain him/her into confidence first. You have to gain support of as many people as you could. This is one way of going around it politely and calmly.

If the situation at hand has worsen or if you see chance of dare consequences, you should then be prepared to give a tough fight. Try to tell your parents all good things about your boyfriend. Explain to them what actually made you fall for him and how you imagine your life would be if you marry to him.

Take a stand. Its your life, your marriage and hence your decision should stand.


Second option could be asking your partner to convert himself and adopt your religion just to satisfy your parents. Afterall, your parents have problem from his religion and not him, as an individual. For this, you need to convince your boyfriend and his family for the same. If he really loves you, he can try considering this option. It is actually very much out of way, but there are people who have done this in their past because they respected their love. But, please don't force him to do anything against his will.

Before going with option 2, I would seriously recommend you to go with option 1. If you find it really difficult in going further with it, only then propose option 2 to him.
