World's first Hydrogen powered 3 wheeler by Mahindra
Mahindra and Mahindra launches the world's first hydrogen 3-wheeler, the HyAlfa at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi. This auto is based on Hydrogen fuel and Alfa 3 wheeler range. This product is joint venture between three parties Mahindra, United Nations Industrial Development Organization and Indian Institute Of Technology, Delhi.
It took around three years and USD 1 million Dollars to built this vehicle. This amount was spent by all three parties in a appropriate proportion. The company aims to reduce pollution by using hydrogen. It should be noted that Hydrogen is free of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and particulates. It offers a astounding mileage of 80 kilometer with one kilogram of hydrogen.
Mahindra has already produced 15 vehicles along with IIT Delhi. Air Products USA has agreed to provide a refueling station at Pragati Maidan for these vehicles.
