The BSE Sensex climbed 0.3 percent in early trade on Wednesday and was trading at its highest level since February 2008, mirroring the rise in Asia and on hopes of higher corporate earnings for the December quarter.
At 9:02 a.m. (0332 GMT), the 30-share BSE index was up 0.34 percent at 17,745.96 points, with 21 components advancing.
The 50-share NSE Index was up 0.4 percent at 5,296.75.
