For marcd, if you do not have proper gprs settings in your phone, even after gprs pack, it will not work. What is your mobile phone handset ? you need to configure it properly.

Just contact to airtel customer care center for mobile office settings. they will send you settings than save it to your cell phone properly. Your access point will be "mobile office".
customer care number for airtel is 121, 198 or 5800.
5800 is for technical department for airtel.
