ICC 20-20 World Cup:Chances of Winning of Team India

Just four days from now for another big event in the cricketing world, the T20 World Cup is about to kick-start in England. This format of cricket is getting increasingly popular with both young & old, kids, girls, etc.

In its previous edition of 2007, Team Indian shocked the entire world by lifting the cup. It came as a big surprise as T20 Format was not at all followed in Indian cricket from domestic level to the international level. All the players at that time were totally alien to this concept of cricket.

But now, almost two years ahead of 24th September 2007 when India emerged victorious beating Pakistan in Jo’burg, South Africa, things have changed a lot for Indian cricket and all for the better. The T20 skills of all the players now looks like polished and are even more sharper this time owing to the much hyped Indian Premier League (IPL). On the contrary, it would be interesting to see if India can go on to win the cup a 2nd time again as teams like Australia, which is considered to be on a downfall by cricket experts, would be hell-bent on proving they are still a force to reckon with. Also South Africa, after posting their heroics in the test cricket and the one day internationals, would be keen on getting the top position here too.

New Zealand certainly is another team not to be left out owning to the big-hitters Mc Cullum &Jesse Ryder coming in at the top to Jacob Oram down the order. Moreover, the favourite pie of them all would be Ross Taylor who shuffles around the off stump to hit flat but clean hits over the mid-on and fine-leg as witnessed in the recently concluded IPL. Taylor played for team Royal Challengers’ Bangalore.

But then, Team India looks to be more balanced than before. Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan has grown up to be pure T20 cricketers while Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and Pragyan Ojha’s current form would make them favourites to watch out for. Moreover, Sehwag and Gambhir are those type of players who can give chills to any bowler even when they are out of form as they have the ability to put the good balls away. Although, not in form now, these lot of batsman are just an innings short of getting back their rhythm. Zaheer Khan and R. P. Singh would be the spearhead of the pace-attack while Praveen Kumar’s swing may come in handy under English conditions.

Overall, there are fair chances of India retaining the cup a 2nd straight time. After all, the saying goes, ‘to be a man, you have to beat a man’ and as for now, no healthy competition for Team India can be seen.
