i am not able to install windows 7 on Dell inspiron 15 laptop

I purcahsed inspiron 15 new one. but i did not took operating system. i had a copy of windows 7, i tried installing it but it was a trail version, so i thought of installing windows xp, but the when i run the OS by cd rom, it extracts all files but while moving for instalation it says... remove the installed new device or may you system effected with virus... system has stopped installing the software by stoping the damage to your hardware... and it says to restart the machine.

In Win 7, when i open my computer under removable storage device... it shows an removable disk (f) which i have not connected any removable disk.

win 7 is trail version and it may expire in few days... so i request someone to advice me on comming out of this issue...

May be it is because you are trying to install XP after windows 7. Are you booting the computer form windows XP in order to do the installation.

YES I AM BOOTING THE LAPTOP USING WINDOW XP BOOTABLE OS

The removal disk you see is most probably the card reader so you should not worry about it (if you have card reader in your lappy).

Also, as far I know you can't install XP after windows 7 installation, all you need to do is first delete all the partitions created by windows 7 and create new partition table then install.

Try that and let me know how it goes !
