In my computer, I see windows 7 OEM version installed, it came with my compter preinstalled, I always had question what exactly does that means ? Is my windows different than other normal windows . From what I read online, OEM version is preinstalled windows license which allows you to install it and sell computer with it and its cheaper than full version . So it means I have cheaper windows ?
OEM and full retail version are same however retail version allows you to install it on any pc whether you are going to use it yourself or sell it (the PC along with windows). Other difference is that OEM version doesn't allow to upgrade, it can only be used to do clean installation. Other thing you should know that if you are going to use windows yourself then always buy retail version, OEM is not meant for you.
