From Where Can I Get A Duplicate Copy Of My Birth Certificate?

I am a 29 years old guy from Nagpur and i wanna apply for my Visa In England for a vacation. The visa can be applied only if deposit a copy of my passport with the UK embassy. I want to apply for a passport for which i need a Birth Certificate which has been misplaced by me years ago. I just wanna now from where can i make my duplicate birth certificate. I was born in Ulasnagar, so do i have to go there to get my birth certificate made.....
