ARTICLE : How to Deal with One Sided Love?

Love can be a wonderful thing, and if right, it can bring about the fulfillment of the parties involved and ensure their continued happiness for a long time to come. But like most things in life, it is not perfect and sometimes you are faced with the issue of one sided love. This is where the feelings of cordiality by one party are not reciprocated by the other party.
One sided love is not healthy in any form be it friendship or romantically, it simply does not work out. The loving party is forced to endure pain unbearable, while intending to fulfill a desire impossible. Therefore, you need to know how to deal with it should it present it self to you either personally or by way of a dear friend you would like to help out.

• First identify who you are in the scenario. Are you the one doing the loving or are you the loved? It is always best to know where you lie so you can deal appropriately.
• If you are the loved, it is best to let that person pining after you to understand that there is no way you will ever be able to return their feelings and that this is doomed to fail. Do not under any circumstances give off any mixed signals as the other person will take them as signs of encouragement which is actually not true.
• If you are in love with someone who does not love you back, then chances are they never will, especially if you have known them for some time already. People do not need to be coerced to fall in love, it just happens and someone who can not see you for how truly special you are does not deserve you love.
• Instead of obsessing over why someone does not love you and how to make them love you, try to focus your energy into something that is more productive and can bring you satisfaction such as a ‘hobby’. Keeping your mind occupied is a good way of stopping it from meandering to unpleasant places.
• While it may be difficult at first, stay away from the object of your desires, surround yourself with good friends who already love you, and do not compromise yourself until you are truly healed. If you are looking for a relationship, until those feelings die, you can not truly be friends with a person. So no point in hanging around them like a love sick puppy.

Life is love, and one sided love will go away just the same way it came. It may be painful in the beginning, but the pain will reduce over time and fade completely as nothing is permanent. Another thing in which to take comfort is that love will always find you and eventually you will find the one who loves you back just as much as you love them.
