what is hdd cloning? and how it works?
It is simply creating exact image of one hard drive into other.
I did same recently when I bought a new 500GB hdd and instead of installing software again on it, I created exact image of old HDD on new one. This is very common practice, software vendor do it almost daily.
You can use GHOST (a software ) to do this. However, there are some free software also like DriveImage XML fro windows computer etc.
In linux you can use dd command using live CD to do that.
