never used LINUX.

hey to install s/w on linux first u have to check out the compatibility with linux.. then there are softwares like xmanager through which u can install..

There are various methods to install software in linux.

You can install using RPM or Debian package manager just by running file as you do with setup files in windows.But it depends upon the linux distro you are using. RPM works in Redhat, CentOS, Fedora and many others while for debian they have their on format.

But installing from source works in evey linux. Basically you are required to download package then uncompress it..

Then goto its directory where you uncompressed it and run..

Best way is to read installation instruction file which comes with every package ie. software.

yeah.. its very simple dude... install xmanager on ur local machine from there take remote connection of the server you want but it should be in domain or lan.. then go in the appropriate mount point.. to run exe u have start with "."
