size difference between a word and powerpoint file,,,

I have not gone through any details about it but as per my general understandings, every word file and PPT files have certain info and fields they need to maintain. Though for you it is blank but still those fields are there. So, may be Microsoft word file has to store more info than PPT file. eg. info about document author, caption, date etc. Those are not really visible in document but still are there.
