Can removal of CMOS batter reset windows XP password ?

Is someone here, who can make me understand how technically XP password is reset by CMOS battery removal. The XP password is supposed to be stored in some XP files or registry Isn't it? If it resides somewhere else, can u please tell me how, where and what the removal effects on. I mean how does it target the XP passwords.

No, removal of cmos battery will not effect XP password, but yes it does effect password of CMOS.

Correct. CMOS battery removal will effect the boot password..not the windows password
But there are some utilities which can reset windows password when you boot your PC with them
