Honda has halted the production of Honda Brio due to non availability of essential components for manufacturing. The supply of essential components has suffered a serious setback due to floods in Thailand which is the main supplier of components. The company has been importing electronic and under body parts from Thailand.

"We have run out of parts for the Brio and have had to suspend production of the model in this month," Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president for marketing and sales at Honda Siel Cars India, told Dow Jones Newswire. Honda Brio was launched few months back and it had received good initial response from the Indian markets until this happened. The production at Noida manufacturing plant has been completely put on halt since starting of December. The plant is capable of producing 1 lakh of units each year. Other models of the company that are also affected by this flood row are Honda Jazz and mid sized Honda City. Honda Brio has a backlog of 6,000 cars while Honda Jazz has a backlog of 4,000 units. The company will be able to normalize its production till February next year.
