Sterlite Industries said after market hours on Wednesday that its consolidated net profit fell 33.66% to Rs 1276.89 crore on 6.65% growth in total income to Rs 11522.41 crore in Q4 March 2012 over Q4 March 2011. Consequent to acquisition of zinc business at Namibia, South Africa and Ireland in the second half of the FY 2010-11, the results for the quarter reported and year ended 31 March 2012 are not strictly comparable with corresponding previous periods.

The Nifty is likely to open flat on the back of mixed global cues. It is likely
to trade in the range of 5230-5300. The trading strategy would be to create long
positions if the Nifty takes support at around 5225 levels for targets of 5257 and
