    Am I infected - GUM86BC.tmp found - can't remove (windows 7)

    Advert.
I have windows 7 running on my system (I know its old but I am happy with it.) but from last few days I randomly get message from Avira that it has found suspicious file named GUM86BC.tmp under program files. I when click remove, it says failed to remove it.

When I look inside program files folder then there are many folders with name "GUM63BC.tmp", "GUM84DC.tmp" and so on. I manually deleted all those and then again they came back later. Again Avira reported as malicious files but can't remove it.

Please suggest what are these and if they are bad then how can I remove them ?

Are you sure these files are reported by Avira ? I think these files belongs to Google update process, if you have any google app like earth, chrome etc. I think will it will be there then.

May be you should see if your avira antivirus is upto date. It could be false-alarm also. As from what I read , its not a malware or malicious file, its from Google for update handling and possible created at time of update.
