The latest foldable device from OnePlus, named OnePlus Open, comes with a range of impressive features.

1. Flexion Hinge
The OnePlus features a durable and lightweight "Flexion Hinge" that utilizes a single-spine design. This design allows for efficient integration between components and the structure, resulting in a hinge that only requires 69 parts, compared to over 100 parts in other foldable hinges. By reducing the number of components, OnePlus has successfully decreased the weight of the hinge.

2. Pixel Stacked image sensor
OnePlus Open has introduced the new LYTIA "Pixel Stacked" image sensor, which is said to be on par with the Sony IMX989. The sensor is a 1/1.43-inch CMOS sensor that utilizes "Dual-Layer Transistor Pixel" technology. This technology enhances light intake, resulting in better image quality. The Pixel Stacked sensor separates two layers of pixel transistors, allowing for more light to enter and improving dynamic range and overall image quality.

3. Alert Slider
The OnePlus Open is the first foldable with a switch on the side. OnePlus calls it the Alert Slider that has been scaled to work on the the foldable. OnePlus claims that the height and width of the module has been reduced by 1.7mm and 1mm respectively compared to the OnePlus 11.

4. A Desktop-like Taskbar
On OxygenOS 13.2, Open Canvas introduces a desktop-like taskbar at the bottom of the expanded screen for easier app access. A "Recent" folder on the taskbar allows users to access recently saved files. The taskbar can be fixed at the bottom of the display for convenience. The phone supports dual splits, drag and drop sharing, and triple splits, along with other features.

5. Lighter than most foldables
The OnePlus Open is surprisingly lightweight for a foldable device, weighing only 239 grams. It measures 5.8mm in thickness when unfolded and 11.7mm when folded. In contrast, the iPhone 14 Pro Max weighs 240g.
