We all know that there was a time when Yamaha was one of the favourite biking brand in India. But now things are changed. Yamaha is trying a lot to have a mark in Indian market but they are unable to achieve it. With bike like Fazer, Gladiator, G5.. they are trying hard but unable to make the move.

So now they announced that they are going to change their strategy in Indian market. Its quite evident that Indian market is still missing premium bikes and hence they want to be first in that. Though Suzuki announced that they will soon launch their International bike in India but that is not so soon and not sooner than Yamaha.

So by 2012, they want to be biggest player of premium bike segment of India. They have planned to roll out Yamaha MT01 (a 1000 cc bike) and Yamaha YZF R1(1600cc). Thats surely too much of power as per Indian bike segment. These bikes shall cost around 8 lacs to 10 lacs in India as they have 100% import duty.

Yamaha says that their company will not go for entry level bikes per trend in India because it does not really suits company's image.
They do have plan for some gearless scooters but that is not finalized.
