Rajdhani express, India's most fastest train will now offer free Wifi Service to it's passengers. This new service allow the passenger to check out their mails, surf the Internet and YouTube videos. However, in the new service obscene content will be blocked.
Internet access to passengers will be provided using two-way satellite hybrid with 2G/3G and Wi-Fi. The primary bandwidth will be provided via satellite connection, while in case of its unavailability, the service will fall back upon 2G/3G links to provide connectivity.
"There was a demand for it and it was part of the budget announcement," Railway Minister , "Pawan Kumar" Bansal said after launching the Wi-Fi internet service in the train at New Delhi Railway station. He also added that the Wi-Fi service was launched as a pilot project and the passengers will be availing the service free of cost.
The Railway Ministry plans to offer free WI-Fi services on 50 other trains by the end of this year which will include the Rajdhanis, the Shatabdis and the Duronto express trains among others.
