Indian carrier Aircel launched a new affordable data pack in the subcontinent today. “Pocket Internet 24″ which offers Aircel cusomters 100MB of 2G data for Rs 24 per month, so you end up spending less than Rs 1 per day, for data.
As per the operator, the Pocket Internet 24 will offer adequate data to familiarize with popular search engine and social networking websites. Aircel has introduced the plan in six circles including North East, Jammu & Kashmir, Orissa, Kolkata and Rest of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Bihar for now, and will be rolling it out in rest of the circles on April 24.
Last week, Vodafone had also introduced one such plan for Rs 25 for 2G and Rs 49 for 3G services and offered up to 500MB data for seven days from activation.
With the increasing adoption of smartphones and smart feature phones, such data plans will help operators to boost Internet usage amongst first time users on these phones, and will help carriers in pushing data services to a larger subscriber base.
