Robots in Sci-Fi movies are pretty close to human, in some movies they are indistinguishable from human race. There are many movies which makes us feel that robot, specially like human can be made easily but in real life, we are far behind it. There are many bipedal robots, noticeably Honda Asimo which can walk like human and run too but can do mostly on flat surface. But now its Atlas from Boston Dynamics is a new challenger in the town, its basically a prototype which can walk outside lab and test condition too.. they showed it walking in forest where things are unpredictable.

According to Popular Science, the engineers sent the Atlas robot out into the world for the first time, trailed by someone carrying a power pack tethered to the robot. In the future, however, it will be able to wander on its own, Boston Dynamics founder Marc Raibert said at a recent conference hosted by the Fab Foundation.

Atlas, initially looks more like metal frame but it can walk as well jog in the woods. Raibert said that Atlas’ mobility is “in shooting range” of a human’s, but not quite up to that standard yet.

In past I had shared their quadrapedal robot which was amazing too.

What do you think, how much time it will take these companies , researchers to actually present something near perfection or close to human ?
