Honda, the Japanese car manufacturing giant is all set to launch a small car in India with competitive pricing. Honda has plan to launch this small car in sub Rs. 5 lakhs category. For this they have plans to make its most of the component in India itself so that they can achieve competitive pricing against current market players. The Honda showed their small car recently in auto show, and the car is named as Brio. The Honda has to plan to make India as manufacturing hub for its supply in South East Asian countries.
The company is looking to make almost all of its components in India so that they can bring prices further down, currently they are buying steel from Tata Steels, however they are in talk with other steel manufacturers to explore possibilities for further price cuts.
The Honda New Small Concept has been developed at its R&D centre in Japan and is designed to be a family car with a capacity to seat 5 adult passengers.
The car is most likely to be launched with 1.2L patrol engine with considerable emphasis on fuel efficiency. You can expect to see car on road in India by end of year 2011.
