• Indian Entry for Oscar 2011 Peepli Live Out of The Race

    Advert.
The mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood Amir Khan's film 'Peepli Live' has been out from the race of oscar 2011. Peepli Live failed to set it self in the category of Best Foreign Language Film.

However, the Oscar organisers have shortlisted the films down to final 9 and Peepli Live has failed to make it. Out of the chosen 9, 4 more shall be shown the doors when the final 5 nomination is announced on 25th January. Form the last few years, India has been waiting for Oscar trophy but success hasn’t kissed the country. The closest we came to winning an award was in 2002 when Aamir Khan’s ‘Lagaan’ was made it to the final five.

However, it lost out to the Bosnian flick ‘No Man’s Land’. Since then, Bollywood hasn’t been able to churn out a film that may please the Academy judges. Aamir Khan singularly has contributed to our ambitions since his films ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and ‘Rang De Basanti’ have been selected as India’s entry for the Oscars. However, post Lagaan no film has yet made it to the final 5.

The films that are still in the Oscars race are -- Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Mexican film 'Biutiful', starring Javier Bardem, Algeria's 'Hors la Loi' (Outside the Law) by director Rachid Bouchareb, Canada's 'Incendies' by Denis Villeneuve, Denmark's 'In a Better World by Susanne Bier, Greece's 'Dogtooth' by Yorgos Lanthimos, Japan's 'Confessions' by Tetsuya Nakashima, South Africa 'Life, above All' by Oliver Schmitz, Spain 'Tambien la Lluvia' by Iciar Bollain and Sweden's 'Simple Simon' by Andreas Ohman.

The 83rd Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood.
