    Piaggio's Vespa LX 125 is expected to be launched in India by next year. The company is currently in process to set up their plan at Baramati.

    The company has invested Euros 30 million in the Baramati Facility. The scooter plant will have annual capacity of 1.5 lakhs unit per annum. Their first offering will be in the form of Vespa LX 125 which will be produced at this facility.

    Piaggio Vehicles Chairman and Managing Director Ravi Chopra said the company is looking at 100% localization for Vespa. "This will enable us to be competitive,". The company has already tied up component suppliers for this, and he said plans were on schedule. "The Vespa would come in around the first quarter of next year," he added.

    Company plans to first concentrate on scooter market which looks like a well thought strategy. After 2013 company is also planning to foray into bike market with their superbikes.

    The Vespa LX 125 is a single single cylinder scooter with automatic transmission.

    Company also announced its premium Aprilia range of superbikes that would come in as CBU imports which may carry price tags ranging between Rs 13 lakh and Rs 18 lakh. However, the price of Vespa LX scooters were not disclosed.

    Vespa scooters were earlier sold in India with collaboration with LML ie. Lohia Machinery Limited and company. Apart of that Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited is a fully-owned subsidiary of Piaggio, Italy . Piaggio India has 760 sales points pan-India. And they are already selling light commercial vehicle in India.
