Apple announced iPad 2- Second Generation Tablet from Apple

The leader in gadgets innovation, Apple has announced the launch of second generation iPad at an event held at the Yerba Buena Center in San Fransisco. It is a quick update as the original iPad was debuted only a year ago.

Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad, and he started off by talking about the iPad numbers claiming in a very typical style that they managed to sell 15 million iPads last year that left most of Apple’s competitors “flummoxed”.

The new second generation iPad has a stylish curvier and an Apple A5 dual core processor, the earlier iPad was running A4 processor. The graphics processing unit in this new iPad 2 is as much as 9 times faster than the other existing iPad which will definitely make a great visual difference. It is “dramatically thinner” than the original iPad - almost 1/3rd times thinner. At just 8.8 mm thin – it is thinner than the iPhone 4! It has two camera at front and at rear as well.You can use the front camera for FaceTime calls now.

The battery life has been retained at 10 hours. The iPad 2 features HDMI mirroring using a HDMI video out port. Users can use a dongle to connect the HDMI cable as well as the charging cable to the supplied “HDMI video out, via dock accessory cable”. The best thing is that both of this can happen simultaneously! The iPad 2 will run iOS 4.3 at launch.


The iPad 2 comes in white and would be available on both Verizon and AT&T. The price starts $499 for the base 16 GB, Wi-Fi version going up to $829 for the 64 GB Wi-Fi plus 3G version.

One more interesting thing the new iPad is the new Smart Cover that Apple is debuting with the iPad 2. Available in multiple colors, the Smart Cover attaches to the iPad 2 with magnets and folds down to cover the screen, or can fold back to allow the iPad 2 to be used standing up.

Since the Tablet market is heating up and now ther is competition in the market, Apple just made the right move by launching the new iPad and they are looking to build upon the success of first iPad.
