Tata Motors the, India's largest automobile producer in terms of now will launch soon a luxury bus coach for long-distance travel in the first quarter of the next year. The company said that this luxury bus is fulfill with the high class features and will be an International product which will compete with the quality and standard as of Mercedes and Volvo buses.
The head of marketing of buses Ashish Tondon said, “As of now, five Divos are under trail run on the Indian roads. With Divo, we will directly compete with Volvo and Mercedes. This will be an international product at an Indian price. Hence, we will be 10 per cent less expensive than our competitors,”
So, after launch of Divo, we will have international standard buses in India but atleast 10% cheaper than current offerings. The styling and design of this bus is done by the Spanish motor bodybuilding company Hispano Carrocera and which is now a fully-owned subservient of Tata Motors. This vehicle is BS-III powered with a 285- horse power engine and it's standard variants has 46 seats and it can be customized according to the passenger and the operator requirements.
The head Mr. Tondon also added, "The total size of this market is 500 units a year; we are aiming at 300 units. A 100 this year and 300 from the next". The company currently have 50 percent share of Indian bus market and it is expected that the new launches of the company will increase the share.
Not only this Tata Motors is also planning to introduce the Tata Hybrid Starbus in the next quarter year. The low-floor hybrid, designed for “stop-and-go” operations, is powered with a parallel hybrid engine comprising an internal combustion CNG engine and an electric motor using a regenerative energy storage system.
After launch of this new product, Tata will have higher market share and will increase its dominance in Indian market along with greater presence in international market.
