Chevrolet Beat Electric version coming his July

The Chevrolet Motors is going to introduce new Beat electric version soon in India. General Motors India (GMI) will showcase this month an electric version of their existing Beat hatchback.This compact car has been developed in house in support from its global technical terms.

Earlier the company was developing electric car in collaboration with REVA but after acquisition of REVA by Mahindra, the company started to work inhouse and now we will soon see the electric Beat.

A company official told that the electrical Beat would have range about 130 km and batteries would take eight hours to charge. The electric motors is believed to produce 45kW(about 60hp) of powers,which is almost as powerful as most compact cars in the market.

The GM said that ,in the coming future , the car may become the second electric car after Reva to be launched in the country, provided that the government follow up with more incentives for alternative fuel vehicles. We are glad that the government has woken up to the need to encourage alternate fuel and electric vehicles,” said Karl Slym, president and managing director, GM India.

The government announced full exemption from custom duty , special additional duty and countervailing duty on some specified parts of hybrid vehicle such as battery packs and chargers as spare battery packs for electric vehicle.

As per news, the electric variant of beat is ready and GM will unveil the beat electric when it launches the beat diesel next month.
