Is free wordpress theme safe to use?

I would like to know whether free wordpress theme safe for us to use..

Generally they are safe but many times it is found that Free themes contains trojan etc which can compromise whole server security. So it is always better to download free themes from official wordpress database only or download from well-known reliable source.

In most of the cases they are virus free but sometimes if you download them through a non-genuine place then they can bring virus along with themes.

Normally their is not problem in free wordpress theme but if you have to use for brand then their is not safe.

Once one downloads the wordpress theme, he has to unzip and scan the files. Once he has carefully investigated the links embedded in the files, he can use that.

I must repeat that all free themes are not always safe. A developer has to check the files thoroughly.

A new comer can either use the default themes of Wordpress or use a premier one in lieu of payment
