Aamir’s TZP is down and out – Makarand Subhedar

Indias official nominee to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Film Category has crashed out of the race. It sure is a pity to Aamir and the whole nation as a movie made like TZP comes once in a blue moon. What gives TZP the upper hand is its adaptability both in commercial as well as off beat genre of movies. Apart from being a commercial success the story did manage to touch everyone’s heart including the International Dyslexia Association for which a special screening was organized in Seattle and Aamir himself was present for the screening which received a standing ovation by the members.

The Nine films which have made it to the next round of qualification for the Oscars are as follows.
The Necessities of Life (Canada)
The Baader Meinhof Complex (Germany)
Departures (Japan)
Tear This Heart Out (Mexico),
Everlasting Moments (Sweden)
3 Monkeys (Turkey)
Revanche (Austria)
The Class (France) &
Waltz with Bashir (Israel)

The next round of voting will be done by prominent academy members of which only 5 will make it to the final nomination which will be announced on January 22.

Though Taare Zameen Par has not made it this time, am sure Aamir will keep making movies that touch everyone’s heart not just in India but the world over.
But let’s keep our fingers crossed for A.R Rehman to do the honors for us

Well, I had that intuition already. No doubt the movie is marvelous but for best movie in Oscar, there are several strong contenders. So it is just because we have some better odds there.
