What's WAP ? what's the difference between wap, gprs and a browser ? Kindly explain all this because many times I find it confusing when I have to do manual settings. Why this is so different , eveyphone now comes with gprs but they also have wap . So what is WAP and what is difference between wap, gprs and browser ?
WAP, GPRS, and a browser are all related to mobile internet connectivity, but they serve different purposes. WAP is an older technology used to access web content on mobile devices with limited capabilities. GPRS, on the other hand, is a mobile data service that provides continuous internet connectivity and access to websites. A browser is an application that allows you to view websites on your mobile device or computer.
Nowadays, WAP is rarely used, while GPRS and browsers are more commonly utilized. Modern smartphones no longer require specific WAP settings and can directly access the internet through GPRS or advanced or more advanced mobile data technologies like 3G, 4G, or 5G.
When setting up internet access on a smartphone today, you no longer need to worry about WAP settings. Instead, you just need to configure the APN settings provided by your mobile carrier. These settings determine how your device connects to the internet using GPRS or other data services.
In summary, WAP is outdated, GPRS enables internet access on mobile devices, and modern smartphones utilize GPRS or faster data services to access the complete web without relying on WAP.
