dear i have driven both the vehicle at a strech of 250 -300 km on a single go i found 3.0 dicor to be best in its performance than 2.2 but whne u look at company specification 3.0 l deliver power of 115 -120 torque while 2.2 deliver power of 140 torque though i own both of them over all maintenence of 3.0 l is very less as compared to 2.2 . well i would like to know ur review tooo.
Can you elaborate little more that how the maintenance of Safari Dicor 2.2 VTT is more than earlier version ie. 3.0 ?

I deleberately buyed the 3L version against the suggestions of others...and i am happy that i did! ;)
Safari 3L is one hell of a Stonking engine, and undoubtedly the most powerful among Indian SUVs. Altough they announce the 2.2 to be more powerful on paper, 3L beats it practically hands down.
3L is the best...no doubt!

3L is obiviously the choice for more power and 4x4 performance. Ask TATA if its available.
Tata Safari Dicor 2.2 is best according to me.

3.0 litre is the best engine in the tata safari becoz its maintainence cost is low and the engine is too much heavy then 2.2 and there pick is mind blowing so i suggest u to buy 3.0l if u r get that its to fine dear

pricing of the Tata Safari, it is a good value for money SUV, as you get a good peppy engine, spacious interiors with good ride. However, Tata needs to work a bit more on the plastic quality on the inside of the Safari and even on the turning radius of the car to a certain extent. for more info visit

i driven both cars 2.2 and 3L but i found 3L damn powerful and better if you get use to it its one of the best vehicle and a week back i driven from pune to Coimbatore almost 1300 km only had hour stop in banglore...its been wonderful on highway,engine temperature was just a normal even driving non stop
its jus a monster on highway jus enjoy the engine sound and power like royal enfield
I don't know how you felt Safari 3.0 more powerful than Safari 2.2, may be vibrations made you felt that.. you know 3.0 L engine was taken from TATA 407.. and it produces 116 PS of power while Safari 2.2 vtt produces 140PS of power. May be you drove a 2.2vtt which was not in good condition.
