ubuntu dsl connections

hey guys there out.........help me out...please
i am a fresh beginner to linux stuff all the setting gs keep me whirling!
i run a triple boot xp professional,vista home basic, and ha here it comes! ubuntu 9.10 i work fine with microsoft things but
i am fed up with the ubuntu exceptionally the terminal!
the thing is that iam not able to connect my bsnl broadband through ubuntu .........would the techies help me please ubuntu is now inactive
but people say many good things about it i really want totry hand over ubuntu ......looking for...........help
