I have samsung omnia 2 phone, it is creating problem where there are weak 3G signals, I can't talk or make calls. I try to find but there is no settings to make it work only 2G mode. I think they have purposely hidden it but how can find it ?

I have samsung omnia 2 phone, it is creating problem where there are weak 3G signals, I can't talk or make calls. I try to find but there is no settings to make it work only 2G mode. I think they have purposely hidden it but how can find it ?
I just found solution on internet, sharing it here , hopefully it will help someone in future:
a. Go into the phone dial mode.
b. Type: ##3282#
c. If the screen does not change to “field test”, tap the dial button.
d. On the next screen which opens up, pop up the settings options from the bottom of the screen via the … button.
Tap settings
e. In the Network type, select 2G only
f. Hit the back arrow and go to your home screen.
Now I don't understand what is the need to hide this setting, it is creating nuisance for me when I am in a area where 3g signals are weak , then my phone get useless as on weak signals I can't make proper call and 2G will not work because it in automatic mode. Hope this thing will help me now.
