Need a motorbike for weekend leisure ride - need suggestion .
I have owned a Honda Unicorn earlier. I am above 40 years of age and have 3 cars at my disposal.
An avid photographer and traveler, looking for a weekend getaway bike. I would do very little city travel from work / home etc on weekdays. Four wheels are pretty tiresome getting out of Mumbai city. Plus a bike can go and park many more places where four wheels can't.
Requirements
1) I wont drive for more than 150-200 kms out of Mumbai most probably,
2) Option for serious touring - not ruled out however not primary, would be rare.
3) Limited off-roads capability desirable. Photography can take you to some places like that !
4) Not looking at a 0-100 in 8 seconds kind of sports bike.
5) Most important - a relaxed comfortable fatigue free driving stance
6) Pillion will be my saddle bags 99.9% of the time.
7) Bike must be 250cc + (Have driven a spoked 150CC unicorn for years and want to upgrade). Have FI.
8) I am 6 feet tall.
My research so far
1) Got very interested in RE Himalayan but again quality issues are alarming. Other RE bikes too many issues / very common now.
2) Bajaj anything - very common and somehow not a big bajaj fan. Prefer international brands.
3) Mahindra Mojo - something is odd about it to me (not sure what) - I am happy with their 4 wheels, Dont want their two wheels yet.
Leaning towards
1) Any KTMS, but they are expensive (though price is not a challenge, but its just a weekend getaway bike)
2) the new Yamaha FZ 25 looks, specs make me keep thinking of it, however saddle bags which will sit well on them ?
Questions
1) KTM Vs FZ25 ?
2) open to good arguments on other bikes too, even any of the bikes I put down earlier up.
Thanks for taking time to read my post and thanks much in advance for sharing your valuable advice.
Regards
Uday
