Asking me Rs. 5000 fee to close passport application

hi this is mahipal applied my passport 22-07-2014 but my police verification not clear. becoz my permineant address and present address are change .i enquired in rpo(hyd),they have to say compulsary present address proof. but i dont have so i decided to closing my passport file.:mad:plz sugest to me they are asking for closing 5000/- rs.is it applicable to that

Can you tell us who is actually asking for this money ... Govt. official or some agent ?

There is no closing fee at all. All you have to do is write plain letter with details about your passport application to cancel it and send to your concerned RPO. Keep a copy of your application with you.
