Dont know whether the reply is too late for you.
The first month bill will include your modem charge(1000 - Type1 , 1600 - Type2) + the rent + your internet charge.
I am using BSNL broadband combo 900 plan ever since it was introduced some years ago. Now it has been withdrawn and combo 850 plan is available. I am availing 20% discount also on monthly payments which alone is more beneficial than making annual payment.
The first bill amount of BSNL 500 broadband plan i think Rs. 500 or more than 500.
