Hi Members,
I am specifically looking at a setup that would mainly cater to sound editing. My point of concerns are; firstly that would any motherboard and CPU configuration would be fine or should I go for additional sound card. And secondly, is a high-end setup needed for sound editing? I have a small studio and so my budget is also limited.
I have not allocated any budget now, as am still planning for this sound editing setup.

Though I'm not an expert, but for sound recording work, I do not feel that a very high end machine would be required. Though a good sound card would be beneficial. Or a motherboard that has in-built features for enhancing sound by noise cancelling or amplification capabilities, like Biostar Hi-Fi range of motherboards that are targeted mainly towards audipophiles.

I suggest a GPU for better video editing. And a sound card like Delta or Audiophile if you want more sound capabilities (Don't know what they'll cost).
No, on the contrary a multi-core CPU (just like AMD FX series) will greatly enhance the sound editing as well as in video editing work. Go for a AMD FX series setup.Quote:

I fear I cannot find sound cards of Delta or Audiophile. But this setup will give you decent video editing and sound editing capabilities at best price. Hope this helps.
I fear to point out that geets suggestion of CPU and Mobo are incompatible.
The Biostar A85W is FM2 chipset and wont go with FX series CPUs.
Though as you need to setup a sound editing system, this board can be handy for your needs. It has excellent sound output delivery, and its inbuilt amplifier can offer wide bandwidth and handle over 100dB loads with low distortion. The board is designed to cancel noise, and thus is ideal for greater quality sound output.
I would say you go with AMD Athlon II X4 640 priced at around 5k along with the other setput suggested by geets.
This will bring down your cost to within 30k, and MAudio Delta professional sound cards go for about Rs. 12000.
