electric, as in a basic form of energy, is much weaker than chemical combustion like petrol/diesel.

take your experience from those 'Go bikes' or Yo bikes.... low speed, low performance.

They are 1 Horesepower at best.

On the other hand, a truck engine is over 400 Horsepower, and if employed to generate electricity... it could light up whole of a small town!
