The air quality in Delhi has reached alarming levels, posing a serious threat to the health of its residents, especially children. Children are more vulnerable to the harmful effects of air pollution, as their lungs are still developing and they breathe faster than adults. Exposure to toxic air can cause respiratory infections, asthma, allergies, and even affect their brain development.

To protect your children from the harmful indoor air, here are some tips you can follow:


1 Ensure windows and doors are closed during periods of poor air quality. Utilize air purifiers or humidifiers to enhance indoor air quality.

2 Refrain from burning candles, incense sticks, or mosquito coils indoors, as these release harmful chemicals and particulate matter.

3 Maintain regular house cleaning practices and employ a vacuum cleaner equipped with a HEPA filter to eliminate dust, pollen, and pet dander.

4 Avoid indoor smoking and proximity to your children, as second-hand smoke exacerbates their respiratory issues.

5 Opt for natural or organic products for cleaning, personal care, and pest control. Synthetic products often contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can irritate the eyes, nose, and throat.

6 Incorporate air-purifying indoor plants like aloe vera, spider plant, snake plant, or bamboo palm. Be mindful not to overwater them, as excess moisture can foster mold and fungi growth.

7 Ensure proper ventilation in the kitchen and bathroom to mitigate indoor pollutants generated by cooking and showering.
