Indian shares rise 0.4 pct early

Indian shares rose 0.4 percent in early trade on Tuesday, after advance taxes paid by companies indicated better earnings for the December quarter from a year before.

At 9:56 a.m. (0426 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was up 0.38 percent at 17,162.70 points, with 26 components advancing.

The 50-share NSE index .NSEI was up 0.3 percent at 5,118.45.
