Looking for professional free Video Editing software for windows 7

Friends,

I am looking for a professional video editing software for windows 7. I want free, I know professional and free won't go together but something close to it will also work. I want a video editing software in which if I learn it then I can also work on other paid and popular video editing software. I searched internet, there are many out there but everyone has their own learning curve and interface and terminology but I want one which is similar to professional paid software.

Please guide.

Hi, there are many out there but if you are looking for professional those are similar to Final cut pro etc.. then I think closest is Blender, it is open source, free and it also have video editing mode. Technically its for 3D modelling but video mode works great too. I have seen some video about it on youtube. But you will have to be patient to learn it.
