You have not mentioned which phone is this. Anyways, if it is Android (99% chances ), then download an app known as "Ampere", run that app and then connect to your phone.
It will tell you how much current your phone is receiving, if there is problem with charging port or connector, then you will get to know it. Just for the sake of idea, if you have 1 A charger then on connection you should see 900mA to 1000mA , if anything less than 900mA then your port or may be cable is issue. Similary if you have 2A charger then anything less than 1800mA is bad, you need to then get your phone checked at service center.

Before going to service center with phone, make sure charger is not faulty.
