LML Vespa new Scooter launched - NV 4 stroke 150cc - Price & Details

LML who had to stop production due to fund crunch and labour problems back in 2006, went back in domestic market in April 2007. Since then the LML is not very much in news. After all 18 months of closure had an serious impact on company's reputation and working. After April 2007, they have made their second launch ie. new NV 4 stroke 150 cc scooter.

The demand of scooters is increased in domestic market by 9% this year so it may be a hope for LML.


The new LML 4 Stroke NV scooter is available in two variants, LML claims the 150 cc scooter delivers a fuel efficiency of 55 km/litre. It is available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 39,897 for the base version and Rs 40,800 for the deluxe variant in Delhi.

Currently the presence of LML is limited to Delhi, Ghaziabad, part of Punjaab and Haryaana.

I have a question: why the price of scooter is lower than motorcycle in India? While on other markets, motorcycle are costly.

You said that motorcycles are costly in other market and same goes in India as you said !

for example, 150cc scooter of LML is Rs39,897, while a 150cc motorcycle of Bajaj Pulsar cost more than 42,000.

Ya motorcycle are costly but depends upon model and make. There was Kinetic blaze, it was 162 cc, cost around Rs. 52 k . Btw, Bajaj Pulsar 150 cc costs something 54 thousand.

Motorcycles have more Style and Show than Scooter...
So demand is more.

By the law of economics, More demand=Stronger price.

Saw LML's ad 2 days before in newspaper. For unknown reasons I felt happy, may be because I had one (LML Select). It was a fantasic and most desirable two wheeler when it got launched (IMO). I loved its smoothness and pickup.

Not sure what its fate going to be now, when every one prefers Activa, DIO and the likes.

LML is one of the scooter manufacturer that continues to survives in markets where demand for motor cycles is increasing , credit goes to R & d department which comes out with new technology in scooters . For a 150 cc vehicle, the price is cheaper than motor cycle . LML will be able to sell more units keeping in mind it is cheaper than motor cycles.
