The 12th Five Year plan has proposed that there must be additional 18,000 undergraduate medical seats and 11,000 post graduate seats available for medical students in India. The Health Ministry has recommended that undergraduate medical seats should be increased from 41,569 to 66,000 and post graduate seats should be increased from 20,868 to 31,000.

The government is also planing to set up 30 new medical colleges in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal where health facilities are very poor. According to statistics Our country produces 30,000 doctors, 18,000 specialists, 30,000 Ayush Doctors, 54,000 Nurses 15,000 ANMs and 36,000 pharmacists annually. Though it is a impressive figure but still it fails provide medical facilities to every citizen who needs it.

Lets hope with this step of the government every citizen gets that medical attention and care that he or she needs.
