Bajaj's Ultra low cost vehicle : RE60 Discussion

    Advert.
Bajaj Auto India which is a reputed motorcycle manufacturer in India is all set to introduce a four wheeler passenger car. This ultra low car(ULC) is being manufactured by Bajaj in Alliance with the French Automaker, Renault. This four wheeler will be launched during Auto Expo 2012 which will be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from January 5-11.

The car will have a 800cc engine that will provide a top speed of 65kmph. The design and the development of the car was done completely in house but with a limited experience. The Bajaj RE60 will be a commercial passenger carrier that will have a seating capacity of four adults and will be a safer alternative than most of the auto rickshaw running on the streets nation wide. The vehicle will be offered in both CNG as well as diesel engine. It will be little costlier than Tata Nano but the company officials have claimed that it will be provide better value for money in terms of mileage, quality and finish.

So, guys will you prefer to move around from one place to another on this ULC or the traditional Auto rickshaw we have on our streets???

But RE60 will be more alternative of autorikshaw . You know India's own cheap car made specially for commercial purpose... sort of taxi ..

It will not be rival to Nano as Nano is a family car.

Natasha this car is expensive than Nano and definitely it has more sound engineering than Nano,
And if you were to say that Nano is a family car this car is also a family car it can easily accommodate 4-5 adults.

Bajaj Auto has unveiled the much awaited four-wheeler today (3rd January 2012) in New Delhi. It will be sold as "RE60" and initially it will be available in only petrol, CNG variant will be launched later. The company has not revealed complete specifications of RE60. It will be powered by a 4 valve DTSi engine which is expected to generate maximum power of around 20 bhp. It will be available in two seating options: 2+2 and 1+3. The top speed of RE60 is 70 kph and the company claimed mileage is 35 kmpl!! Thanks to light weight and robust monocoque metal-polymer hybrid structure. Rajeev Bajaj cleared the fact that RE60 is not meant for inter city travel. He clearly said that the car is being presented as an optimized solution for ‘intra-city passenger transport’. “This vehicle has been designed for intra-city use keeping in mind intra-city cycles and safety requirements.

After looking at the car i feel Bajaj could certainly do a better job as far as designing of this car is concerned......
I find the design of the car very absurd and strange...
