Japanese auto giant has declared a 1% hike in the prices of its popular and selective models. This immediate increase in auto prices from Toyota is a way to counter the depreciation in rupee value.

Toyota’s selective cars will comes with a new enhanced price tag. Now the diesel variant of sedan Etios and MUV Innova is costlier by 1% while other models such as Fortuner and Etios Liva diesel have attracted a hike of 0.5%, mentioned by Mr. Singh. The price increase is applicable from 1^st June onwards.

The range and price are still very significant negatives, however. An average petrol or diesel car has around 250-300 miles available on a full tank, and refuelling stations are ubiquitous. Even if they were ubiquitous, having to wait an hour to get another 60 miles out of your car is unacceptable. These will be relegated to the wealthy soccer-mom crowd, really, since there will very likely never be any kind of used market with significantly reduced prices.
