One day my friend just opened her gmail account and her photo was placed as a theme behind. I was figuring it out how did she done that, but as i am new user of gmail i couldn't able to figure it out how to do it . If someone know how to customize picture as a theme please let me know.

That feature is about GPlus and not about google.. I hope you are talking about G+
